World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading

Item upgrading allows players to boost the gear score of an Item upgrader mod up to 700, and then add an additional perk. Items can be upgraded if they're in your inventory and you bring them to the kiln.

Certain items are worth upgrading because of their unique stats. (For example an excellently rolled breakpoint armor used in melee PvP). Other items such as weapons don't really change after an upgrade, and aren't worth the effort.

Weapons

Upgrades to weapons can increase their numerical stats, including attack damage, crit chance, and PvE/PvP damage. They also have an unchanging bonus that increases their damage per second. Additionally, many weapons have an added bonus that is activated when three or more of the same weapon is present on a unit. In some instances, this bonus could add up to more than the amount of damage that a weapon is able to upgrade by itself.

The cost of upgrading a weapon is contingent on its rarity and current level. For instance an item with a rating of +2 will require two regular Smithing Stones to upgrade while a +3 requires four. The number of stones needed to upgrade a weapon will increase until it requires a higher level of Smithing Stones. At that point, it will reset back to one.

Upgraded weapons can also alter their base stats. While this is generally a good thing however, it could have negative consequences too. For items that are only used in a particular build (Whistant's shield for FB sorcs for instance) upgrading them can make them unusable unless you happen to have an extremely lucky roll.

It is possible to upgrade armor items to improve their effectiveness. For instance, if you have chests or helms it will boost its base defense while gloves and belts will enhance their required strength and dexterity. Armor has a rerolling option for its Enhanced Defense%. This means that it may reroll down to a lower value.

The upgrade template for a weapon displays the new stats it will gain upon upgrading and their relative values. This means that a weapon will gain 33% attack damage when it is upgraded from an 8 attack damage sword to an 11 attack damage sword. However the 3% does not mean that it will strike for 3 times less often as it is an absolute number.

A weapon can be rerolled by pressing the green button with arrows that circle in the item level upgrade menu. This will reroll an item upgrades and alter its stats, but not reset the weapon's level or bind it to account status.

Armor

A few armor upgrades can make all the difference to your survival. Certain sets can provide MASSIVE improvements in the resistance to poison, curses, fire, and magic. This makes it easier to get through difficult areas. In general, the greater defense your character has, the more value you get out of each point of health you possess therefore it is important to upgrade your armor as much as you can.

You can upgrade your armor by visiting one of the Great Fairy Fountains. There are four Great Fairy Fountains in the game and to unlock each one you have to complete a side quest that involves the Stable Trotters. The amount of materials needed to upgrade each piece of armor will vary. The Champion Leathers, as an example can be upgraded to a +5 defense rating, which allows you to stay ahead in cold environments with a large number of adversaries. The Snowquill Headdress, on the other hand, can be upgraded to +20 defense, which means you're able to survive a battle with your comrades.

It's important to note that armor cannot be upgraded the same way as weapons, so you'll have to focus on upgrading it for physical power if you're a Warrior or Spell Power if you're a Mage. It's also worthwhile to save your armor upgrades for armor you'll still be wearing at the end of the game, like the Ring of Lightning and Spectral Shield or the helmet you use for the final boss fight, the Monter Parts Merchant's mask.

By giving the jeweler 10 Twinkling Titanite in Gerudo Town in Gerudo Town, you can unlock some perks on your armor. Potions
