Top Rated Robot Vacuums

A robot vacuum can keep your floors tidy enough to cut down on the frequency of hoovering manually. Find one that has excellent navigation, is able to clean corners and stairs, and has a large dust bin that needs emptying only periodically.

There are also models that mop and charge on their own which can be essential for those who have pets or children. Many of the top performers in our tests offer decent obstacle-avoiding capabilities.

1. iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO

The i3+ EVO is identical to its sibling i3 EVO. They differ only in that the i3+ comes with self-emptying capabilities. This makes the i3+ a good option for those looking for an automated, hands-free cleaning experience, but don't mind having to empty their dust bin manually when it is full.

Both robots excel at cleaning up surface debris from carpets and hard floors and they're excellent in moving around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software makes smart maps of your home that help the i3+ EVO navigate and clean in a manner that maximizes efficiency. However unlike the i7+ or other top rated robots we evaluated, the i3+ doesn't have a feature for avoiding obstacles, so it may be stuck on things like socks or power cords, and it can have difficulty in navigating through transitions between surfaces like from hardwood to rug.

iRobot recommends clearing areas where the i3+ EVO will vacuum before you use it, including clearing out any clutter or toys it may encounter. You should also keep the dustbin and filters clean to prevent them from becoming clogged. If the i3+'s internal bin is empty or the battery is depleted, it returns to the docking station, and it automatically empties the dirt into the station's dust bin. Then it continues cleaning from where it began. The i3+ EVO's battery can last for approximately an hour and a half of continuous use, and takes around three hours to recharge.

2. IRobot Roomba i7+

The iRobot i7+ is the top model in iRobot's flagship line and comes with the most recent features. It is self cleaning vacuum-charging and self-navigating. But the most important feature is its auto-emptying bin. This will eliminate the need for regular maintenance.

The Roomba I7+ is able to map rooms more efficiently with Imprint Smart Mapping. It also works with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning jobs and control your robot using voice or through the app.

In our testing the i7+ performed faster and more maneuverable than our second-placed model, the eufy RoboVac G30, and it picked up large pieces of pet hair from all surface types, including carpeting. Its main advantage over the eufy it self-empties its dust bin that eliminates a major source of maintenance and reduces recurring costs.

We were also awestruck by the i7+'s compatibility Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We used these services to instruct the robot to start or stop cleaning sessions, as well as to move around the room and even vacuum a specific area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ to these services. After being connected, to voice commands to the i7+ for example "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options for managing i7+ settings and monitoring the performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

In a world filled with vacuums that are cordless and feel like minivans or buses, this tiny Dyson model feels like a sports car. It has the power and features to replace a stand-up vacuum for the majority of households and can fit in well next to the coffee table or a bookshelf where you can move it around like a magic tool.

The V10 is powered by a seven-cell, high-energy lithium-ion battery that can provide energy that is not faded for 60 minutes. Its sophisticated whole-machine filtration system removes allergens, and then releases cleaner air back into your home. Its specialized cleaning head drives bristles of nylon that are stiff and deep into carpet to collect large particles and fine dust. It has three suction modes that can be adapted to the task. It is able to quickly change from floor vacuum to handheld vacuum and vice versa.

This model comes with an attached dock that charges the Dyson to 100% in 3.5 hours. It also offers an easy access to two attachments as well as an handheld. This is a significant improvement over older Dysons models, that require a long charge and are difficult to store.

The main drawback of the V10 is its limited run time. Its marketing claims that it can last up to 60 minutes of run time are misleading as CR's tests have shown. The 694 is a basic robot vacuum that's a great choice for those who don't have a lot of money to invest in the latest model of robot. It was able to pick up all kinds of debris and sizes during our tests and would often go over the same area multiple times for an extensive clean. The flat front of the unit allows it reach into corners and along the edges of walls which is a nice addition.

Its intelligent navigation system makes use of iAdapt to avoid obstacles and Robot Sweeper navigate around your home, but it lacks the ability to map that comes with more advanced models like our top choices, the i3+ EVO and j7+ series. It is prone to getting stuck on phone cords or furniture and will often run out of power before returning to its base.

The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in most respects because it has fewer components that require regular maintenance, is fitted with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, has lower recurring costs, comes with more advanced automation capabilities and is more efficient in moving itself. It also has a bigger dustbin, and charges more quickly.

The RoboVac X8 is a slick RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 in most purposes, as it has a better battery life, can change its suction power mode manually and comes with physical boundary strips, and is operated by your phone's voice assistant. It also feels more sturdy and has a more powerful motor, and performs notably better on both bare floors and carpets with a low pile, as well as offering a wider range of automation features.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+
