Cyberpunk 2077 Item Upgrading Guide

It is important to upgrade your equipment in order to maximize your gearing capabilities. It lets you add extra bonus stats over your base level item upgrades's value.

Each upgrade template comes with a set options that can be set up through the GUI. These options include the upgrade reference and the chance to upgrade.

Upgrade components

The process for upgrading weapons, armor and other equipment in Cyberpunk 2077 has been reworked as part of the 2.0 update. Upgrade components are available all over Night City, and the item you want to upgrade must have an upgrade slot. When you choose an item to upgrade the game will display a preview of what the expected stats will be following upgrading, and the required component or material needed. If you do not have the required material or component needed to upgrade the item, then the button will say "Blocked."

The items that can be upgraded include weapons and armor and trinkets and gathering tools. Upgrade slots can be filled on every item with upgrades that give attribute bonuses or additional effects when the equipment is utilized. These upgrades can be obtained through crafting, purchased from a seller, or taken as rewards.

There are two types of upgrade components such as universal upgrades and gems. Universal upgrades which are similar to gemstones can be placed in any type of equipment and provide a smaller bonus than other types of upgrade components. These are easy to obtain by dropping them by enemies and looted across the globe. Gems can be obtained by disassembling items or through doing certain missions.

Upgrades can be replaced by new upgrades inside a weapon's upgrade slot. However, doing so will destroy the previous upgrade. Other upgrades, excluding for glyphs which can be placed in gathering tools, cannot be removed from an item after they are placed. Infusions, which can be placed into ascended equipment as well as legendary equipment, and enhancements, which can only be removed using an upgrade extractor or by salvaging the Item Upgrader Kit with a high-tier salvage kit, can be replaced at least once every hour.

Recycled items

In the two recent world wars, the scarcity of natural resources pushed the world to adopt recycling.
